A sister ship to my "Adagio"

A few years back, 1998 I think. We found "Adagio" for sale quite cheeply, or so we thought. Adagio is Italian for "to play slowly" which is pretty accurate for a 5 ton boat with an old tired 50 hp Merc. at the square end. OK, so both ends are square, at the stern.

Anyway, after we bought her we launched her on a Friday, took it out un the Thousand Islands for the weekend, and noticed she was drawing about a foot more on Sunday than it had on Friday…..hmmmm.

So, …. after the new bottoms were welded on all three pontoons we re-launched for a summer of fun and frolic on the water.

You don't get much respect in a houseboat. Everyone seems to think you're a renter and are about to Kamikaze their plastic pride and joy. I do get a few weird looks when I spin her on a dime, well OK a quarter, or use a spring line to pop the bow out against the wind. A few have said "Um, you've driven these a while haven't you?"

We've sailed (is that an acceptable term for a floating construction shack) the wheels off her and had a ball. I've actually lived in smaller apartments when I was just starting out.

We've been up the Rideau Canal to Ottawa, down the Ottawa River to Montreal and through the St. Lawrence Seaway back to Kingston. You sure feel like a cork in a bathtub inside a 800' lock! Also all through the 1000 Islands and the Bay of Quinte. Next year we want to loop through the Erie Canal, to the Hudson River and back via Lake Champlain and the Seaway again.

I know that I my age, my back really appreciates a full size bed, air conditioning and a real shower.

Now, how can I get all that into my Micro?

She is available for free exchange. We've already exchanged with a couple from Amsterdam and are actively looking for other boaters to swap a week or two with from anywhere interesting.

More exchange possibilities are to be found at the Yahoo e-Group "free boat exchange" and at Homeexchange.com
