Heart Is. With Boldt Castle. Near Alexandria Bay, New York. Open as a museum and US Entry Point for boaters. About 20 miles from Kingston/ Incredible!

Elaine & Bruce Hector off the boathouse for Boldt Castle. Some boathouse! That's my Honda 250 on the bow of Adagio, having transportation with you really helps sometimes.

Canadian span of the Thousand Islands Bridge at Ivy Lea, about 20 miles from Kingston. Both Islands under the bridge are parks.

Kingston City Hall and a small portion of the municipal marina. Tons of interesting restaurants, pubs and shopping within walking distance.

The Thousand Islands area of the St. Lawrence River extends 60 miles from Kingston to Brockville, with more excellent cruising all the way to Montreal via the Seaway. Kingston is also the southern terminus of the Rideau canal to Ottawa, where you can then follow the Ottawa River to Montreal in a sheltered cruise of over 400 miles. Just west of Kingston is the Bay of Quinte with the entrance to the Trent-Severn Waterway, with another long sheltered cruise to Georgian Bay on Lake Huron. There are two ways to get to the Erie Canal from here, follow the Seaway to Montreal where a the Champlain canal takes you to Lake Champlain or 50 miles across Lake Ontario at Oswego, New York is a entrance to The Erie Canal. Both these routes take you to the Hudson River and allow access the US Intracoastal Waterway where the sunny south waits. If you did this you could conceivably do the Great Circle Route and follow the Mississippi, Tennessee, and Ohio systems to Lake Michigan via the Chicago canal that joins the great lakes to the Mississippi. Kingston is the gateway to a world of cruising.

An "O Dark 30" departure. Navalese for being up and functioning far too early. That's not sunset, its sunrise!!  Cataraqui River at Kingston.

Elaine graces the bow of Adagio in Cartwright Bay, a mile east of Kingston where we anchored for a dip.
