Modular boats, why not?

The idea was to make a bunch of modules, screw, clamp or lash them together, and make the longest, wooden boat ever assembled in a single day. We applied for recognition by the Guinness Book of Records organizers, who told us
"Nyett"  in a nice form letter.  The world's record was set at the Kingston Amateur Boat Messabout in September 2003 at 96 feet!

Now, TIMS will again be taking shape, this year as a schooner, at the 2004 Kingston Amateur Boat Messabout. You are invited to bring a mast and sail and help us break the record for most masted schooner.

TIMS is a "proof of concept" for a larger modular cruiser with an 8 ' beam, based on large Mississippi River barge tows. Just drive it away, when you get there, anchor it in the bay and just take the 12 foot power unit in to the marina

Is this Woodenboat Magazine's next cover photo or what?

TIMS at 30 feet, looking like a Rhine River freighter, but wait, she gets longer! How long? How long do you want it to be?

"Timmy-The Tiniest Towboat" launched on Canada Day, July 1, 2003. Cabin is a mock up only.

TIMS at 22 feet, full speed with a 9.9 HP outboard, she was much longer at the 2003 Messabout

TIMS at 86 feet, Kingston Messabout, September 2003.

TIMS nearing final assembled length of 96 feet, September, 2003.
A world's record for the longest wooden boat assembled and sailed in a single day.
Pity that the Guiness people told us to "sod off" in a polite form letter.
