Pirogue, yes I built one obnoxiously tippy pirogue. My friend Mahdi Azeemi, a recent immigrant from Iran, helped and even was fool enough to go to sea in her. More pics to follow soon when I find them.
I warned Mahdi about the tippiness and he managed to do quite alright thank you.
Since then we've had her at an open house at the Cataraqui Canoe Club where a large group of recent immigrants from all over got to try canoeing for the first time. What a hoot that was.
Mahdi Azeemi having much better luck in "Pirogue" than I did, good form so such a newcomer to canoeing!
Piroque launch day, April, 2001. I've just rolled through 360 degrees in an unintentional eskimo roll on launching.
The water's pretty cool in April in Canada and I'm freezing.
Piroque ready for our winter 2002 trip to Texas and Mexico, I scuffed her up and generally made her as ugly as I could so no-one would want to steal her. She had to survive parked on the street and in motel lots for many days, ….. She did!
