What's a Messabout anyways?
It's pure boating fun!

If you own or love homemade boats, be sure to attend. A Messabout is a gathering of amateur boat builders and lovers where YOU get to see and usually try out many different amateur built boats.

Where: Rideau Acres Campground is located within Kingston's city limits on the Rideau Canal just north of the 401 Freeway. The address is 1014 Cunningham Road. Kingston, Ontario 1-800-958-5830. Go to Mapquest , type in the address and print off a nice map. Kingston has numerous hotels, motels and restaurants for those who prefer not to rough it, the closest is 3 km. (2 miles) south of the site and downtown Kingston is only 10 kms. With many hotels including a floating Bed & Breakfast!

By Car: Kingston is halfway between Montreal and Toronto, 90 minutes north of Syracuse, NY via Interstate 81. Driving to the site involves just a single turn off the 401 Freeway.

By Boat:  The site has navigatable links to the St. Lawrence Seaway, Great Lakes and the world for vessels up to 90' long, 26' max beam and drafts up to 5'. However vessels drawing over 4' are advised to contact the Rideau Canal Office  before transit.

Friday eve: Wine & Cheese, bring some plonk and snacks.
Saturday eve: Potluck dinner in clubhouse.
Sunday morn: Potluck breakfast. Dockside. I'll make the coffee.

Costs: There is no charge for the actual Messabout. Visitors will need to purchase a day pass from Rideau Acres for $8 Cdn (about 6.75 US for our American friends), camping, if desired is $23.60 Cdn/night (about $16 US)

Accomodations: Camping, RV parking and mobile home rental are all available from Rideau Acres Campgrounds. See above. Plus, being after Labour Day, most hotels will be on off season rates and empty!
